Hosted by: The Book Date
What I read last week:
Kiss Her Goodbye by Susan Gee. My review is here.
Juror #3 by James Patterson and Nancy Allen
What I’m currently reading:
The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith. In audio.
Dates From Hell by Kim Harrison, Lyndsay Sands, Kelley Armstrong, & Lori Handeland. One down, three to go!
Red Horizons: The True Story of Nicolae & Elena Ceausescus’ Crimes, Lifestyle and Corruption by Lt. Gen Ion Mihai Pacepa – I’ve put this on hold temporarily. Too much corruption and oh-my-god moments. I will eventually finish it, just not right now.
What I’m reading next (hopefully):
This hasn’t changed any since I’m still trying to clear up the twelve thousand ‘current reads’. Ugh. But I did finish two books last week, so I’m hoping that helps.
Bury Me Standing by Isabel Fonseca
The Wife by Alafair Burke
Plus another outstanding Netgalley book:
Like Never and Always by Ann Aguire
Hosted by Mailbox Monday
One new book this week as well.
Library Haul:
Still working on one library book, Red Horizons, so I’m trying not to borrow any more until I get that done.
Mailbox Haul:
Nothing in my physical mailbox this week.
Audible Haul:
I have a new credit, but no idea what I should use it on. Suggestions?
Purchased:
I still haven’t bought any books, including freebies, so I’m impressed with myself right now. My movie did arrive and I’m eager to watch it. It’s called 12:08 East of Bucharest (yeah, still running with that Romanian theme). It’s supposed to be hysterically funny. We’ll see, I suppose!
At least I made some sort of noticible progress this past week. This coming week starts OWNtober and I’m anxious to clear out some books. Might even carry this on through the end of the year to see how many I can get rid of by New Year’s. Hope you all have a great week.
Love the Robert Galbraith series on audio. I plan on listening to Lethal White soon 🙂 Happy reading.

I’ve been meaning to try the Galbraith books…but they are so LONG. LOL.
I loved The Wife. Thanks for sharing, and for visiting my blog.

Hah – that’s what I’ve heard, too. And the new one is supposed to be REALLY long. *sigh* The audio is something like 22 hours. YIKES.
Awesome, glad to hear you liked The Wife so much!
Anytime – and thanks for the return visit. 🙂

I’ve not read any of these, but I am very interested to see how many ways you access books. Audible looks great and I have been tempted many times.

I get books from every source I can find! Mostly it’s via the library (for print and digital) and PaperbackSwap.com (a mostly free book-swapping site). Audible is very tempting and their daily deals are awesome – an audiobook for $2.95? YES PLEASE. Also, earlier this year, a used book store opened up the road from my house and it’s wonderful. Even better because the owners are true book lovers and will sit and chat with you for as long as you’re willing to hang out.
Thanks for stopping by!

I haven’t read any of these but it looks like a great variety. I never mind an Audible credit sitting there until I know what I want to listen to. All the best of Owntober!

I picked it up in audio on a whim and had several people tell me how much they loved the narrator. So far, it’s been a good choice! The story’s good and so is the narrator.
So true – you never know what might catch your eye at the oddest moment.

OWNtober wouldn’t just last for three months in my case, it would be more like three years – and I still don’t think I would have cleared my physical sheves, let alone my kindle, which will be full to bursting long before then!
Working with second hand books as I do, I have been very good of late and I haven’t actually bought a book for ages. However, I am a pre-approved Aria Fiction reader with NetGalley and no doubt when Goodreads get their overseas ‘Giveaway’ issues sorted out, I shall be back on that bandwagon again too!
I keep meaning to try a Galbraith book and perhaps it is an omen that they have been mentioned on so many blogs this week.
Thanks for sharing and enjoy your reading 🙂

You and me both. Ugh, I swear, I collect wayward books like nobody’s business. My Kindle is a mess, too, thanks to Amazon and those freebies!
That has to be difficult! The used bookstore near me has so many older books, things that are out of print or hard to find and it’s SO TEMPTING. I resisted going in on Saturday even though I was right next door.
I got pre-approved for Aria as well, so that’s very cool! The Goodreads giveaways are safer for me, even being in the US – so far, I’ve only won once.
I hope you pick one up one day – I’m loving this one.
Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!

I want to read the new James Patterson book. It looks great. I used to read his books as soon as they were released, but I’ve gotten behind on them. Hope you have a great book!

Thanks! Ugh, so was mine. It was a pretty pitiful month for me, honestly. But I had a kid start her freshman year of college at the end of August so that might have a lot to do with it. 🙂 Here’s to a better October for us both!

I still haven’t made any progress on my to-read pile on my table, lol. But I’m currently reading Mister Owita’s Guide to Gardening for my book club this week. The author, Carol Wall, died soon after the book was published in 2014, and her husband travels the country to promote the book. One of the perks of living in this area is that it’s very author-prolific, and we usually have an author (or in this case, the husband) come to our library book club 2-3 times a year.

I picked up my first last night and got about ten pages in. 🙂
Oh, that’s awesome and a perfectly acceptable reason to read something else. I love that her husband is out promoting for her even though she’s gone. Ugh, I’m jealous though. Not many authors venture out this way. Enjoy!

I’ve had a lot of people suggest that to me, so I might just have to pick that one up. I do like him, what little I’ve seen of him (and he has such a lovely voice). Thanks for the rec!
