What I read last week:

Vampire Knight Volumes 7, 8 & 9 by Matsuri Hino.  Volumes 7 & 8 were from the library, but volume 9 was from my personal stash.

In Peppermint Peril by Joy Avon.  ARC via Netgalley.

Hot Texan Temptation by Mary Jo Springer

The Geeky Chef Drinks: Unofficial Cocktail Recipes from Game of Thrones, Legend of Zelda, Star Trek and More by Cassandra Reeder

What I’m currently reading:

The Cuckoo’s Calling by Robert Galbraith.  In audio.  It’s something like 15 hours so it might take me a while.

Like Never and Always by Ann Aguire

Eggs in Purgatory by Lisa Childs

What I’m reading next (hopefully):

A Scandal in Scarlet by Vicki Delany

Little Darlings by Mealnie Golding

On hold (temporarily):

Red Horizons: The True Story of Nicolae & Elena Ceausescus’ Crimes, Lifestyle and Corruption by Lt. Gen Ion Mihai Pacepa

This covers the last two weeks since I didn’t manage to get a post up last Monday.

Library Haul:

Vampire Knight Volume 7 by Matsuri Hino

Eggs in Purgatory by Lisa Childs

Mailbox Haul:

Empty physical mailbox this week!  Which is probably a good thing considering down below.  Hahaha.

Audible Haul:

Simon vs. the Homo Sapiens Agenda by Becky Albertalli.  Audible Daily Deal.

Purchased:

Sir Loin of Beef by Vanessa Vale.  I kinda might have bought this on a dare. It sounds slightly ridicioulous but should be fun.

Rogues – Geroge R. R. Martin and others.  In my defense it was $1.99 AND I SAW JOE ABERCROMBIE.  I COULD NOT SAY NO TO JOE.

Kindle Freebies:

Unforseen by Nick Pirog

One Haunted Evening by Ava Stone, Jerrica Knight-Catania, Jane Charles

Lie to Me by Natasha Preston

Serenade by Heather McKenzie

As you can see… my book buying ban went out the window this week.  *sigh*  I went TWENTY-FIVE DAYS GUYS.

OWNtober Update:

I’ve read six of my own books so far this month, plus a couple of Netgalley ARCs.  This is honestly much better than I thought I’d do.

  1. I read Cuckoo’s Calling but I hope you are enjoying the audio. I want to start Career of Evil but my mind isn’t apt to reading at the moment and it is sort of the same thing with audiobooks. Nothing is getting through. Oh well. I can’t wait to read The Name of the wind either. It sounds fantastic and dark and creepy. Is that a fair assessment? I have no idea what to expect. Thanks for stopping. I hope you enjoy all your books and have a great week!

    1. I’ve been feeling like that on weekends lately, which is why I’ve been pulling out all the manga I’ve had stashed for months. Easier to read a comic book! I’d say that The Name of the Wind is definitely dark. Not sure about creepy, but I read a lot of fantasy anyway. It has been good though.

      Thanks for coming by!

  2. Thanks for the cheer for my teen. Your Texan Temptation sounds like a cheeky romance. The Geeky cocktails book sounds like a fun one to try out. Have a good Monday.

    1. Anytime! We moms have to stick together. 😀 I don’t read a lot of romance these days, but Hot Texan Temptation was a lot of fun and a quick read. Perfect for a rainy weekend. I hope you have a great week!

  3. I read In Peppermint Peril and A Scandal in Scarlet and enjoyed them both. I keep meaning to read Galbraith’s book but whenever I have an opening on my calendar, I forget I have a copy – the disadvantage of Kindle copies. Come see my week here. Happy reading!

    1. I really enjoyed In Peppermint Peril! I’m anxious to start a Scandal in Scarlet as I’ve read the two before it (but still haven’t managed to read Elementary, She Read yet) and enjoyed them both. Ugh, I know – if we could only stack some of our ebooks like we do our print books, some of them might get read faster! Thanks for coming by!

    1. It’s a great title, isn’t it? I swear, half the time I pick up a cozy just because of the title! You’re very welcome and thanks for the return visit. 🙂

  5. Vampire Knight sounds kinda good- is that manga- and that drinks recipe one sounds way fun! Drink ideas from GoT and Zelda? Cool!

Also Rogues for 1.99- that’s a pretty good deal! And hey 25 days was pretty great!

    1. Yes! Vampire Knight is both a manga and an anime if you’d rather watch. 🙂 I did get a laugh out of three recipes in the drinks book – there was a red, green, and blue potions which are typical for health, mana, and stamina in those RPG/fantasy games. I don’t play, but I’ve watched my husband play enough of them to know and see the humor in it. 🙂

Agreed – that many big name authors for $1.99? I’d be crazy to pass that up. Haha – thanks!
