The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is hosted by Long and Short Reviews. This week’s topic is: favorite book series and why.
Where do I start without scaring you off?
The Sword of Truth series by Terry Goodkind. It’s pretty standard fantasy, but I love the idea of a Confessor – a woman who, if she touches you and unleashes her power, you cannot lie. You also become her slave of sorts for the rest of your life, too, but yanno.
The Stephanie Plum series by Janet Evanovich. These books never fail to make me laugh and god only knows we all need a good laugh these days.
Kathy Reichs’ Temperance Brennan series. Forensics have always fascinated me, so the idea of a forensic anthropologist blew my mind. Tempe has a bad habit of doing dumb stuff, but overall, I like her a lot and love Andrew Ryan.
Tales of the City by Armistead Maupin. I stumbled onto these books 25 years ago and fell in love. It’s something I definitely need to revisit soon.
Anything by Dakota Cassidy. I don’t care if it’s her Accidentals, the Plum Orchard books, or even her Witchless in Seattle books. Whatever you pick up by her, it’s going to be funny as heck. As an aside, her Kiss & Hell series is still by far my favorite.
Two series by James Patterson: The Women’s Murder Club and NYPD Red. I’ll read anything the man writes or co-writes, but these two are my all-time favorites. Lindsay and Zach need to team up sometime.
Lastly, Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker’s Guide series. These are my absolute favorite books ever and bring me endless joy and laughter.
Okay, I think that’s enough for now. I tried to mix it up a bit and give you something different that what I usually push on this blog, so hopefully you find something new and interesting.

Thank you for providing more TBR titles for my list. As if my list isn’t long enough. LOL I did love Stephanie Plum books, but the last ones got a bit repetitive. As others have stated, great list of books and authors! I think I have everything Dakota Cassidy has written and love her older books as much as the newer ones.
While I don’t blog anymore, my list would have to include Jayne Castle’s Ghost Hunter/Harmony books. I have read those more times than I care to count. I love the characters and the settings and absolutely adore her dust bunnies. I like her books written under her other pen names, but the futuristics are my favorites. I know if I’m in a reading slump, I can read these and they cheer me up.
Lynsay Sands’ Argeneau Vampires are another series that I’ve read multiple times and always enjoy.
There are quite a few more but don’t want to write my own book here in your blog post. 🙂

I like Jayne Castle and Lynsay Sands as well. Both are great series.

If you enjoy that wry, sly sense of humor in Hitchhiker’s Guide, you must read Kurt Vonnegut! He’s not read in schools much anymore, like he used to be, but Slaughterhouse Five, though his most famous, is not his best book, though that’s the one kids used to have to read. I LOVE Cat’s Cradle, in which he poses the question that ALL scientists should have to ask themselves: “Just because it’s possible for me to do this, should I?” Because once something has been invented, you can’t “un-invent” it. My late father used to tell me that once the genie is out of the bottle, you can’t stuff it back in. There are a few more books that include many of the characters and ideas in Cat’s Cradle, but that’s my favorite.
