Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: September 21, 2021

The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is hosted by Long and Short Reviews.  This week’s topic is: what makes me LOL.

I can’t lie, I’m an epic dork and will laugh at darn near anything.  And the dumber it is, the harder I tend to laugh at it.

That said, I do love good comedy.  George Carlin is one of my all-time favorites.  However, in the effort to keep things clean, I’ll instead post a clip from one of my other favorites, Jim Gaffigan.  And if you’re looking for good, clean, family-oriented comedy, he is your guy.

My cats also make me laugh out loud on a regular basis.  They’re all crackheads, so they’re always good for a laugh or twelve.  I’ll be sitting in my chair, reading, and see a toy go flying through the room and then a flash of fur following it.  Or, I turn my back for a minute and get this treatment:

Then there’s my kids.  They’re older now, but they’re such witty little brats at times.  My older girl is a nut while my younger one wields sarcasm like it’s a weapon.  They both inherited their father’s – and grandfather’s – sense of humor and it’s a glorious thing at times.

Believe it or not, sometimes the people I work with and in conjunction with make me crack up.  I think part of it is that I work in construction, so things aren’t as uptight as they might be in say, a doctor’s office or the corporate world.  In particular, I have a certain inspector who loves to ask if I’ve been drinking whenever I call him.  How I got this reputation with him, I’ll never know, but it does make for some amusing conversation.

Lastly, I tend to crack myself up, often for no reason at all.  I’ll hear something completely innocuous and will lose it.  The worst part about this is trying to explain to someone else WHY I am laughing.  Because honestly, I don’t even know half the time.

What makes you laugh?  Do you prefer highbrow humor or are you more like me?

  1. I love George Carlin and Jim Gaffigan’s work! Jim has some really funny tweets and Instagram posts, too.

I think your cats need their own computer to cuddle. Haha.

    1. Cats are obnoxious, but we love them anyway! Usually, they only lay on it when it’s closed. But apparently she wanted me to not do anything but pay attention to her. 🙂

  2. I think it’s wonderful that your kids have a sense of humor & you come across that way also. How many cats do you have? I have two.

    1. Thank you! My girls can be quite entertaining when they want to be. And I definitely try – laughter is what gets me through everything. I have three because you can’t be a crazy cat lady with only two cats, right? 🙂

  3. “my younger one wields sarcasm like it’s a weapon” this is absolutely Firstborn, in our house. He will drop a bomb in the middle of a conversation and leave everyone A) laughing and B) wondering what just happened.

We have a dog now, and he’s funny in his own way, but I do miss having cats.

    1. It’s funny how different my kids are. The older kid is very blunt with her humor while my younger one is more subtle. But they both have a sarcastic streak. I think your first born and my second born would get along well!

Dogs are nuts, that’s all I can say. My in-laws have a black lab named Deke and he is the biggest dork, but such a sweet dog.
