The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is hosted by Long and Short Reviews. This week’s topic is: what makes me LOL.
I can’t lie, I’m an epic dork and will laugh at darn near anything. And the dumber it is, the harder I tend to laugh at it.
That said, I do love good comedy. George Carlin is one of my all-time favorites. However, in the effort to keep things clean, I’ll instead post a clip from one of my other favorites, Jim Gaffigan. And if you’re looking for good, clean, family-oriented comedy, he is your guy.
My cats also make me laugh out loud on a regular basis. They’re all crackheads, so they’re always good for a laugh or twelve. I’ll be sitting in my chair, reading, and see a toy go flying through the room and then a flash of fur following it. Or, I turn my back for a minute and get this treatment:
Then there’s my kids. They’re older now, but they’re such witty little brats at times. My older girl is a nut while my younger one wields sarcasm like it’s a weapon. They both inherited their father’s – and grandfather’s – sense of humor and it’s a glorious thing at times.
Believe it or not, sometimes the people I work with and in conjunction with make me crack up. I think part of it is that I work in construction, so things aren’t as uptight as they might be in say, a doctor’s office or the corporate world. In particular, I have a certain inspector who loves to ask if I’ve been drinking whenever I call him. How I got this reputation with him, I’ll never know, but it does make for some amusing conversation.
Lastly, I tend to crack myself up, often for no reason at all. I’ll hear something completely innocuous and will lose it. The worst part about this is trying to explain to someone else WHY I am laughing. Because honestly, I don’t even know half the time.
What makes you laugh? Do you prefer highbrow humor or are you more like me?
