Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: March 23, 2022

wednesdaybloggingchallenge

The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is hosted by Long and Short Reviews.  This week’s topic is: your favorite podcast and why.

I’ll admit that I’m not a big podcast listener.  Why?  Mainly because I forget about them.  I find a good one or am told about one that sounds interesting and… then I forget.

That said, I stumbled across one a couple years ago called Blood Ties.  It’s produced by Wondry and is basically like a radio drama.  I thought it was interesting and relatively well-acted.

Blood Ties

The only one I’ve truly stuck with however is Scientology: Fair Game.  I started listening to this after becoming slightly obsessed with Leah Remini and her history with Scientology.  I read her book, Troublemaker, and needed to know more.  That’s when she and her fellow ex-Scientologist friend, Mike Rinder, started a show called Scientology and the Aftermath.  Which, if you haven’t seen it, is amazing.  This podcast began after the show ended and they decided there were more stories to be told.

I’ve done a much better job of keeping up with this than I have others.  I’m honestly a year behind on it, but other podcasts I get an episode or two in and abandon.  Not intentionally but… see above.

I have quite a few others on my list – true crime, tarot, conspiracy theories (gotta keep up with the crazy, right?), and even a Duolingo Spanish podcast.  Maybe one day I’ll get there.

Some highlights:

Cults

Unexplained Mysteries

Stuff You Missed in History Class

Oh, and if you’re interested, I listen to all of mine through Spotify – a free app for your phone or computer.  Although, most of them can be found wherever you listen to your podcasts.

I’m interested in just about everything, so hit me with your faves!

  1. Hi! I’m going to check out the Blood Ties podcast. I listen to them when I can…more often when I had to work from home because I got lonely with no one around all day.

    1. Blood Ties was pretty interesting. I hope you enjoy it! I’m kind of glad that I never did have to work from home. Mainly because both of my kids were home at the time and we’d have all gone nuts!

  2. I use Duolingo for Spanish, but I haven’t ride their podcast yet. Is it good?

That Scientology one sounds super interesting, too.

    1. I haven’t listened to any of it yet! If it’s half as entertaining as the little stories they have, it ought to be fun. 🙂

There might be something broken in my brain, but Scientology and these other cult-like ‘religions’ fascinate me.

    1. I took a class in college on the New World Order and it introduced me to so many crackpot conspiracy theories. I kind of became obsessed, even if I didn’t buy into any of them. 🙂
