The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is hosted by Long and Short Reviews. This week’s topic is: the last place I traveled to and why.
I don’t get out much. For the most part, my husband and I have always been homebodies, content to stay where we are. Then he got sick and we really couldn’t go anywhere, not without risking him getting worse. Now that he’s gone, I’m not sure if any of that will change or not, but I do have places I’d love to go and see, even if I can’t take him with me any longer.
Our last trip out of town was about six years ago. My mother-in-law was a nurse at one of the local hospitals and discovered one of the doctors she worked with had a rental on the Pacific Coast Highway in Huntington Beach, CA, so they planned to take our girls and go for the week while Troy and I came down for the weekend. It was a really amazing trip and so beautiful. Still don’t think I could live my whole life in California, but it was truly an amazing trip.
The photo we used at Troy’s memorial back in January was actually a picture from this trip with him and the girls making faces at his dad, who was taking the picture. It stuck out like a sore thumb when you were scrolling through the obituaries on the funeral home’s website, but that’s okay, too. He wasn’t ever quite like any of the other people I’ve known in my lifetime, which is probably why I chose him in the first place, right?
Anyway, now I’m getting emotional, so I’ll shut up and post this. ❤ I’m excited to see where and what you’ve all been up to lately!

The last big trip was last summer, to Las Vegas. Las Vegas itself was okay, but the area outside of it was amazing! The last quickie trip was to Charlotte, NC, in August. The Queen concert with Adam Lambert. Also amazing!

Yeah, having lived here for as long as I have, I often wonder what makes people come here in droves. Red Rock, Valley of Fire, and Boulder City are great though. So jealous of the concert though!

But, the PCA is gorgeous. I’m glad you all got to experience it together. The best thing to leave behind is a pile of great memories.

Aw, sorry about that. I’ve been struggling lately and hadn’t meant to talk about him in this post like that. Thank you though, he was really everything to me.
It’s amazing that I’ve lived in the crook of California’s knee, so to speak, almost all my life and haven’t ever really explored the state much. My SIL is from San Francisco and I’d love to get up that way some day, too. I couldn’t agree more though. I’ll never forget how excited he was when we drove past Chip Foose’s place. LOL!

Beautiful post, Aymee! What wonderful memories, so thank you for sharing them with us. The Pacific coastline is tremendously scenic. I’ve traveled it several times (live in Sac. California)–starting from Monterey down to San Diego and then up to the Washington coast. 🙂

I agree. He and I got together when we were 15, so I have so many memories and, while I’ll always want more, these are enough. Hahaha – I treasure every photo I have of him because he hated having his picture taken. So, goofy wins in this case!

Yeah, it really is. I got giddy when I saw a sign that said something like ‘Welcome to Surf City”. I wasn’t alive in the 60, but I do love the music from that era.
