Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge: April 21, 2021

The Wednesday Weekly Blogging Challenge is hosted by Long and Short Reviews.  This week’s topic is: creative outlets I enjoy.

I’m not creative in a crafty sense, although I used to paint ceramics with my mom all the time.  However, I do like to bake, cook, and garden.  They’re all creative in their own ways, even if not in the traditional sense of the word.

I made this Easter wreath for her a million years ago.  Her birthday is March 20th, which is always on or near the Spring Equinox, so I thought it was appropriate:

On the more traditional side of creativity, I like to write.  You may or may not have seen bits and pieces of it here during the weekly Friday Five Writing Prompts posts.  If you’re lucky, maybe you haven’t run across one of those posts yet either.  Hahaha.  (I’m kidding, put down that pitchfork.)  It’s something I’ve always done, long before I realized that not everyone creates their own best friends.

That’s about as far as my creative efforts go.  What do you do to express yourself?

  1. I love your writing. I’m so glad to have found it on FF. I’m going to nag you until you finish something though… and I’m a pretty amazing nag 🙂

  2. The wreath is not only cute, but reminds your mom of your love, since you made it for her. I’ve still got things my kids made for me when they were in grade school–which incidentally, none of them remember–as if it never happened! LOL.

As for creating your best friends, I used to think everyone walked around with other people talking to them in their heads. Gradually I learned that most people’s heads are quiet. But I like the noise in mine.

    1. Thank you. You’re so right – she texted me the picture I included in the post this year when she hung it up. Makes me happy to know she still loves it. Aw, I have a bunch of my kids’ stuff still, too, and they’re always, WHY DO YOU HAVE THIS? 😀

Right? How do you survive your day without all those little conversations going on?

    1. Thank you! And it really can. My older girl is vegan, my younger girl is lactose intolerant so they really do work (and test) my creativity in that regard!

  3. I think cooking baking and gardening are great ways to get creative! I used to think I wasn’t creative for years just because the ways in which I wasn’t creative wasn’t the way my artsy friends were. The wreath is super cute!

    1. Thanks! Same here – I can’t knit, crochet, scrapbook… but I can bake! Hahaha. And thank you – I’m really proud of that wreath. 🙂
