This was a bit of a challenge for me. Since my girls are both older teens now, I don’t have a lot of middle grade books around the house. So, I turned to Google.
Coraline by Neil Gaiman. I don’t know how I managed to forget about this one because I’ve actually read it. I remember being surprised that it was suggested for 8-13 year olds. Excellent book, however.
Skeleton Man by Joseph Bruchac. I found ths in my searches and I might have to see if my library has it because it looks and sounds creepy as heck!
Doll Bones by Holly Black. Coming of age story mixed with mystery and paranormal events? Count me in!
Through the Woods by Emily Carroll. A collection of illustrated short stories that mix elements of fairy tales with dreams. I’m going to have to definitely pick this one up. Creepy stories that are boldly illustrated? Yeah, right up my alley.
Bone Hollow by Kim Ventrella. This sounds like a very typical Halloween tale, but with a twist. After an accident, Gabe meets a girl named Wynne. Trouble is, Wynne is Death and believes that Gabe is destined to replace her.
So, this is what my internet search gave me today and weirdly enough, I want to read them all, including Coraline, which I’ve read a couple times already.
